New Chair

Janet McCauslin MBE, has been appointed as the thirty-fourth Chair of the Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trust, succeeding Andrew Croxford, who has served as Chair for the last two years.

Janet joined the Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trust in 2008 and has been a dedicated Trustee for the last 16 years.  She has also served on the Board of the Carnegie UK Trust.

A former Assistant Principal at Dunfermline’s Carnegie College, Janet has a background in education and is committed to helping local people thrive and succeed.  She also brings a wealth of experience in community development and partnership working.

Janet lives in Dunfermline and has two grown up children and three grandchildren.

Janet is looking forward to following in the footsteps of history and the long line of Carnegie Chairs who have continued the mission of spreading ‘sweetness and light’ as set out by Andrew Carnegie in his founding letter to Trustees in 1903. She will be ably supported by new Vice-Chair, Mike Reid.

As Dunfermline transitions from town to city, it is an exciting time to take over as Chair. Janet is looking forward to driving forward the work of the Trust including the Pittencrieff Park Ambition Project and the future strategy for the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum.

The prestigious Carnegie Medals of Philanthropy Event, which honours modern day philanthropists who have followed in Andrew Carnegie’s footsteps, will also be hosted in Scotland during Janet’s term as Chair taking place in May 2025.

In stepping down as Chair, Andrew reflected on the highlights of his own experience over the last two years including meeting King Charles and supporting Dunfermline communities and Hero Fund beneficiaries through the Trust grant giving programmes. He expressed confidence that the Trust was in safe hands and wished Janet every success as Chair.
